The name Epidermolysis Bullosa itself is a description of this dreadful disorder. The skin is made up of different layers, an outer thin layer called the epidermis, and inner layers known as dermis. The word lysis means breakdown, and bullosa means blistering. Epidermolysis Bullosa then literally means the breakdown and blistering of the skin.
